MultiTest - Marine pH/Alkalinity - 75 Tests
Seachem MultiTest - Marine pH & Alkalinity is a professional grade water testing kit designed for use in delicate saltwater and high pH freshwater aquariums. The kit will accurately test the water and measure pH and alkalinity levels to ensure a healthy, stable aquatic environment. In ideal conditions, marine water should present a pH level around 8.2-8.4, but tanks that have been dosed with limewater may show increased levels as high as 8.6. Natural seawater has a total alkalinity of 2-3 meq/L, but for the best most stable conditions, home aquarium water should feature a total alkalinity of 4-6 meq/L.
This efficient and effective test kit features an exceptionally unique dye that boasts a noticeable color change between the levels of 8.0 and 8.3, making it the easiest kit on the market to identify values that fall within that critical range. It is suitable for marine or brackish water only. Conveniently, Alkalinity may be read from the same sample in 0.5 meq/L increments. Seachem MultiTest also measures the values of total alkalinity. Total alkalinity is a measure of the essential carbonate, bicarbonate, borate and hydroxide content of the water, expressed as the acid neutralizing capacity of the water in meq/L (milliequivalents/Liter). The expression of alkalinity as meq/L is the most useful and understandable way to express this property of the water to resist change in pH.
Included with the kit is an opaque multi-cavity test plate with six individual cavities that allow aquarists to test and compare several samples at the same time. Additionally, the simple, easy to read color chart features a 5-centimeter viewing window that makes identifying the specific reading of the test hassle free. pH will precisely measured in a range between 7.80 and 8.70 and alkalinity levels in a range between 0 and infinite. For unmatched precision and reliability, pH has a detectable color change between 0.01 pH units and alkalinity will show detectable changes in the color chart at 0.5 meq/L increments. As well, though it is not needed to use this kit, Seachem MultiTest includes a reference sample to allow aquarists to verify if there results are as accurate as they should be. Comes with 75 tests.
